Google Vs. Dogpile

Which toolbar is better, Google or Dogpile?

I've been a huge fan of the Google.com toolbar for quite some time, the ease of use, the pop-up blocker... always thought the page-rank button was as worthless as an Alexa search, but that's my opinion, other more noble sources love this lame feature.

Then along comes Dogpile.com's own toolbar... complete with ease of use, a kick ass pop-up blocker, a weather button, dictionary & thesaurus buttons, a horoscope button and the big addition to this feature rich powerhouse, the ability to add and display .rss feeds. If you’re a news junkie like I am, you'll love this!

Although I'm more partial to the Google search engine, Dogpile quickly won me over and has taken Google's spot on my browser.

Update 9/8/04:
Dogpile had to go! After a nasty stint with some cleverly embeded spyware, I uninstalled BOTH toolbars. Google uninstalled completely but Dogpile left 'residue' on the system... Google is back on the browser as the sole toolbar... (although the friggin' BlogThis! button crashes the thing).

Coast to Coast AM with George Noory

Fans will recognize the headline... I use to listen to Art Bell on WABC 770 in New York every morning.  I was pissed when they dropped Coast to Coast after Noorny took over.  (Steve Malzberg took the spot... can't have *too* much political commentary I guess... bleh.  They still stream Art on the weekends... go figure.)

Anyway, after searching around I was THRILLED to discover an AM station with the bucks needed to stream the show.  So, if you're a fan of Coast to Coast AM and want to listen to it on your computer (cuz AM radio reception sux), head over to KEX AM 1190 out of Portland Oregon!

I have to give these guys a hearty pat on the back.  They made my week.

Steve’s Sausage and Sauce… The Easy Way

I'm making this tonight... Let's see how it turns out:

2 or 3 pounds Sweet Sausage
2 tablespoons olive oil (couple glugs)
1 Medium to large onion  (chopped)
4-5 cloves fresh garlic  (chopped or crushed w/knife)
1 28oz Can crushed or Diced Tomatoes (hell, use sauce if you want)
1 12 oz can tomato paste
1 tablespoon salt  (a few shakes, use your gut)
1/4 tablespoon pepper (same, a few shakes, use your gut)
1 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning (two or three shakes)
1/4 teaspoon chili powder (one or two shakes)
2-3 glugs pilsner or dark beer (just for the hell of it – optional)

In a larger sauce pan, add the olive oil to coat and heat for bit.
While that’s heating, poke the sausage with a fork a few times (helps to reduce splatter a bit).  Add to pan.  Lightly brown.   Add the chopped onion and chopped garlic.  Sauté until brown or tender (use your own taste).

Add the can of tomatoes, stir… add the paste… stir…. Add the salt, pepper, oregano (or italian seasoning or both), the chili powder and beer.  Mix.  Simmer for about an hour or so (covered).  Stirring frequently to prevent burning.
Cook your pasta (according to the directions on the package).  Usually, I boil the water with two or three bay leaves in it… add the pasta… sprinkle a little black pepper over the surface of the water and boil again for about 6-8 minutes (6 for firm pasta, 8 or 10 minutes of softer pasta).

This is the best laugh I've had all week (so far):

Truly a bi-partisan skewering.

What a fun weekend...

...and it started off with big bang Friday night.
My dear wife had returned home, looking rather perturbed. It seems the law firm had let her go and the sneaky slimes wouldn't tell her why. (I have a suspicion it stems from the 6weeks she was out when she fell on an icy Metro-North platform in January. This suspicion is sort of confirmed by the 'you can't sue us if you want your severance pay' waiver they forced her to sign.) Oddly enough, she told me it felt like a weight had been lifted off her chest. I think they did her a big favor, I believe it was time for her to move on to better.

*sigh* Well, you know what they say 'If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off'.

Kerry/Edwards...

When I heard the guy on the radio describe John Kerry's veep announcement as a liberal love-fest, I had know idea he meant it literally: you gotta see this...

To be honest I really don't give a shit who wins as long as my taxes stay low, they keep me employed, they kick some terrorist ass and THEY FUCKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT SPAM... it's gotten so bad here at notweird.com that I get junk mail from people asking me if I get too much junk mail! EEESSSH!

Happy Independence Day!

Let's hope the Mets can spank the Yankees again today! (funny how the mets can always win when it doesn't count.)

Things are tense here today though... it's like WW3. (my dear wife is a yankee fan and i, of course, like the better team...)

I'm soooo bored!

Ever have one of those days where you're bored out of your mind?
I've been bored witless since about 3pm Thursday. Nothing seems to be able to shake this mind-numbing dullness that has descended upon me...

To give an example of how bored I am, I actually spent about an hour last night at this site: homestarrunner.com.

Boredom has been occurring with more and more frequency lately... anybody have a cure? I can't keep visiting silly website at one in morning anymore! AAAUUGGGHH!!!

Hmmm...

Anybody else wake up with a sense of impending doom?
For weeks now, there's been this nagging feeling that something bad is about to happen...

I just know my wife is going to make me clean out the 'fridge this weekend.
